Join David Samuel Robbins on an in-depth cultural and photographic journey through the fascinating Kingdom of Jordan.
This program offers an expertly curated survey of the very best of Jordan, exploring both the ancient and modern dimensions of this compact yet remarkably multi-faceted, visually stunning and utterly unique country. From Amman, Jordan's bustling, modern capital city to the serenity of world-class ecolodges deep in the desert, and onward to the sprawling, epic ruins of Petra, we will traverse both space and time, moving through varied, gorgeous landscapes and over 25 centuries of incredibly rich history. Over the ages, Jordan has been ruled by Nabatean, Christian and Muslim empires, each of which has left a rich legacy of monumental architecture and ornate religious iconography for us to explore.
We will tour grand Roman ruins, long-abandoned Crusader castles and historic Greek Orthodox churches. We will stand atop Mount Nebo, where according to biblical lore, Moses first gazed upon Canaan, The Promised Land. In Wadi Rum, we spend two nights in the futuristic "Martian Dome" luxury hotel pods, with astounding views of the desert night sky. Premium accommodations, superb Western and Middle Eastern cuisine (including a private traditional Arab cooking class) and fantastic photographic opportunities round out this unforgettable experience. Politically stable and famously hospitable, Jordan is rapidly emerging as one of the world's most intriguing destinations for the intrepid adventure traveler. HIGHLIGHTS:
TOUR PRICING: $7,495 per person, based on double occupancy / room sharing Single supplement: $1,595 solo / private hotel room for all nights in Jordan |
A NOTE ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY INSTRUCTION This is a working photography expedition, with the programming emphasis on maximizing your opportunities for productive fieldwork, not formal instruction in camera theory or computer software subjects that can be covered back home or via online tutorials. Clients should be self sufficient with their chosen camera systems and downstream digital workflow. Traveling with downloads of all relevant PDF manuals is recommended for reference during the tour. Via laptop and / or LCD projector talks, David shares his own work and the work of other photographers, with the objective of exposing the group to a wide range of philosophies and working styles that are being employed in the documentary, travel and "street" photography disciplines. David tends to emphasize the ideas / concepts that drive advanced image making more so than the background technical details, but will discuss technology as it relates to best fulfilling the artist's intentions for the image. David provides spontaneous demonstrations and talks in the field, as conditions present themselves. Usually these are hypothetical problem solving scenarios encountered by a working photojournalist on assignment. He is also available for one-on-one discussions about your personal photography goals and reviews of your work in progress during the tour. For review sessions, having a laptop with software that can display the metadata of your images is very useful. Non-photographer spouses and traveling companions are very common on our tours, and are always welcome. _________________________________________________________ Unless otherwise noted, all text, cartography and graphic design is © copyright 2022 David Samuel Robbins / Photo Nomad Ventures, Inc.
